Alice Chapman and James Russell

Both Alice and James originally trained as Yoga teachers in India at Yoga Vidya Gurukul, a yoga school in the south of India. Alice came to Yoga through her meditation practice and James through his interest in eastern philosophy.

They have both travelled extensively throughout Asia and share a love for the culture and geography of India. They met at Yoga Vidya Gurukul in 2009 whilst completing their advanced training and they have been working and living together ever since. They have two sons together and live in a quiet village in rural Devon, UK.

FLEXIBLE
Alice and James in India 2009
Alice and James are committed to teaching yoga in a way that honours its spiritual tradition and also respects and nurtures the development of the students.

In addition to weekly classes they teach individually, they also teach together on courses and workshops. They have found this to be a great formula as they are able to give more time and personal attention to each student. Alice and James teacher together on the Devon School of Yoga foundation course.
  • James and Alice work really well together, supporting and validating each others teaching. Both are warm and welcoming in their approach.. extremely grounded, patient and positive and gave a sense of enjoyment for the teaching experience.
